Barton A. Cohn

Bart Cohn is a lifelong Kansas City area resident and has been a licensed real estate agent in Kansas and Missouri since 1983. As a commercial practitioner, he has completed numerous transactions throughout the KC metropolitan area, as well as around the country. Bart joined Real Estate Dynamics, Inc. in 1989. 

Prior to entering the field of commercial real estate, Bart was an insurance adjuster specializing in property claims, and subsequently owned a consulting business that worked with companies that replaced items covered by insurance. While he does represent property owners, Bart has traditionally specialized in representing Buyers and Tenants, since he initially noticed that that their interests were frequently not being represented in the transaction process. He prides himself on educating his clients in the transaction process and strives to achieve the best possible deal. Following his first Buyer’s Agency assignment in 1984, for a large Kansas City Midas franchisee, he has assisted a wide range of retailers with finding the best possible locations and acquiring them through either the acquisition or lease process. Bart also enjoys assisting his clients with the complicated and time consuming development process. He is very “hands on” and stays close to all aspects of an assignment. 

The development process requires the coordination of a wide range of professional service providers, which includes working closely with: legal counsel on document language; title insurance companies to clarify title issues and coordinate transaction closings; environmental inspection companies; surveyors; engineering and architectural firms; and a wide range of governmental approval issues, ranging from rezoning to permitting. 

Bart has had the privilege of working with many very long term clients, who consistently refer him to others that become the same. Ability, loyalty, a sense of fairness, and dogged determination, along great negotiating skills, keep his clients coming back. Examples of long term clients include: various Sonic Drive-In franchisees since 1991, accounting for over fifty transactions; many complex long term projects for Kansas City Power and Light; and the acquisition of three key intersection locations (that others failed to acquire) for the H.T. Paul Company, an area developer for Walgreens Drugs. As a result of his efforts, Walgreens locations are now open at: 78th and State Avenue in Kansas City, KS; Hwy 71 and Main in Grandview, MO; and 3rd and Ward in Lee’s Summit, MO. Bart has successfully negotiated transactions with major retailers such as: Wal-Mart; McDonalds; Panda Express; NTB; Taco Bell; Hy-Vee; Texas Roadhouse; IHOP; and many others including “mom and pop” business’s and investors. With each client and customer, Bart’s goal is to connect “service” to “achieved value”, by giving them service and value beyond what they expect.
